Westfriesgasthuis, located in Hoorn, the Netherlands, cares a lot about the wellbeing of their patients and visitors. The hospital gives high priority to hospitality and is one of the most digital hospitals in the Netherlands. When the new construction of the hospital was being built, it was only logical to not only invest in an analog guide system but to offer a digital system as well. Today, the WFGwegwijzer app is available for iOS and Android, so patients, visitors, and employees will never get lost again when visiting this innovative hospital in West-Frisia.
In collaboration with Navigation-ID and Mobile Agency, we realized an adequate solution for Westfriesgasthuis. In fact, this partnership led to a worldwide first when it comes to navigation technique inside hospitals. The WFGwegwijzer app communicates with about 1.000 beacons, which are placed throughout the entire Westfriesgasthuis. The beacons contact the smartphone of the patient, visitor or employee and send information about the location. This makes it possible to navigate easily through the hospital.
The app uses clear language and icons, which makes the app very user friendly. That’s why the map, developed by Movin, is also very accessible for visitors, patients, and employees who don’t use their smartphone as often. The user enters the desired destination within the hospital and the fastest route will be shown. Then using the map and clear route instructions, the user can easily find his way to the desired location.
